Pakistan test-fires nuclear-capable ballistic missile - Nikkei Asian Review -indopakdefscan

ISLAMABAD (Kyodo) -- Pakistan on Monday test-fired a nuclear-capable ballistic missile with a range of 650 kilometers, the Defense Ministry said.

It said the Shaheen-1 surface-to-surface missile, capable of delivering all times of warheads, was launched to test the operational readiness of the Army Strategic Force Command.

The missile was initially developed in 1998 with Chinese assistance having a range of 350 km but has since been improved with the use of indigenous technology.

Video footage released by the ministry showed the firing of the missile from somewhere on land and then impacting in an arid area.
